GeniusAs in the course above, we will focus on the person, in this case the real individual behind the label “genius.” Based on the following books, we will examine the different sides

of certain “geniuses”: Albert Einstein in The Other Einstein by Marie Benedict; Charles

Dickens in The Girl in the Blue Dress by Gaynor Arnold; renowned physician Dr. Samuel

G. Howe, husband of Julia Ward Howe in The Civil Wars of Julia Ward Howe by E. Showalter;

British novelist Thomas Hardy in Winter by Christopher Nicholson; brilliant literary

critic Stanley Hyman, husband of short-story writer Shirley Jackson in Shirley Jackson

by R. Franklin. This is primarily a psychological study of the relationships between certain

highly talented men and their wives. Two 2-hour sessions.

FEE: $48 Members. $58 Non-Members
